Brett and I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Eagles concert with his parents and siblings. I didn't grow up on the Eagles like the rest of the Shaws, but I can still appreciate their amazing talent. Who doesn't love Hotel California? I will not be making the number of big turks and wonderbars that I consumed while in Canada public...

Canada Vacation
We had a lot of fun in Canada over the last couple weeks. While we are there, the girls basically live outside. Ellie said her favorite thing to do is ride the golf cart but I know that riding the horses and playing with cousins are a close second. Adelaide loves the kitties and other animals too as well as just being outside.

Easter & Stuff
Our family likes to be silly :P
Brett's had lots of time off this spring so we've been having lots of fun together before residency.

my little gamers
Ellie was such an all-star at soccer this season. She was aggressive and loved to score goals. She kept track of how many she made each game and then set a goal to make more shots the next game. She is good at running the whole time even when it's hot, and i'm enjoying this outlet for all her energy. We will work at sharing with our teammates more next time hah!
Adelaide is an avid book lover right now; I love seeing her and Brett enjoying that together in the mornings after breakfast each day.
We attended several Easter hunts this year. Ellie is a VERY competitive little human being. Adelaide had fun too I think.
Our landlord has a farm not far out of town and we HAD to visit at least once before we move. She was so sweet to show us all the animals and let the girls feed/ride them :) :) Ellie decided to wear her zebra shirt because one of the animals is a zebra named Lucy!
Ellie is obsessed with the game memory continues to beat me, Brett, and Grandma even when we are sincerely trying.
Match Day!
On March 16th Brett matched to a psychiatry residency with UAMS in Little Rock, AR. We were very happy/excited for this new adventure and within hours were planning our future. When Brett interviewed at UAMS, the girls and I came with him to check out the city and we were all pleasantly surprised by it and decided that the program would be in the top of our rank list.
A couple of weeks after the match, we left our kids with my parents and drove out to find a house. After A LOT of thought, we decided to buy a house for residency and were pretty nervous as first time home buyers. We found a realtor with lots of experience and started studying zillow and mls like nobody's business. Our first day in Little Rock we looked at about 20 houses without being very 'wowed' but thinking we could make something work. On day 2 we narrowed our search and got a better feel for what areas and types of houses we were most interested in. When we walked into the 3rd house on day two, Brett and I took about 3 steps in, stopped, looked at each other and immediately said, "this is it". We are SO excited about the neighborhood, neighbors, school, cul de sac, size, price, backyard etc. Brett's going to have to adjust to his 25 minute commute to the hospital, but we aren't overly worried.
We also had the time while in Little Rock to see "Little Shop of Horrors" at a cute dinner theater, walk across the 'Big Dam Bridge' and try out several restaurants. We are so excited to explore our new city!!

Ellie's 4th Birthday
Ellie had a special 4th birthday this year because Grandma & Grandpa Rasmussen came out and we celebrated by going to a drive thru safari. Ellie is obsessed with all animals and had a blast. She was also very excited because she got hatchimals which she has repeatedly told us is what she wanted.

Spring is Here
Spring has finally arrived and we are getting very excited for the Match!
I had a great time teaching Ellie and her preschool friends about metamorphosis and we ordered some caterpillars on amazon to watch grow. They thought it was pretty cool and so did I! At the end when we were setting the butterflies free I got to hold one on my finger which obviously has been a life long dream hah :)
Ellie has begun her soccer league and is really liking it. She's on a pink team of all girls and 2 of them are in her sunbeam class at church. I love that Brett knows all about soccer and has the time to play around with/teach her. Ellie had her first game today and scored 3 goals! She is a little sad when the kids take the ball from her, but we assured her that it's ok to try and take it right back. I don't think she's used to that mentality.
Brett is finishing up his last couple weeks of medical school, and then we will just be vacationing until graduation/residiency.
This has been a big month of weddings. First we attended Shibi & Pete's wedding in Dallas; Ellie was able to be the flower girl in the ceremony. She didn't want to use up all the pedals at once and decided to throw them at th
e wedding party as they left haha. We all had a good time.
Then a couple weeks later we went to one of my best friends Lisa, and her now husband Nathan's wedding in Houston. We made it a date and left the kids at home and had SO much fun. It was a really sweet ceremony and they definitely seem like a couple made for each other. It was a full blown reunion with all my friends from grade school; I was sad to have to say goodbye. Being around those girls and their significant others makes me feel like I'm back in high school again (which I loved) and we had a blast partying it up. (Brett wasn't too disappointed that we missed the dancing at the end hahaha)
